Environmental
Concerns
of Broadway Lake
Many efforts are
ongoing to address the environmental concerns of
the lake to keep it healthy and beautiful for many
years to come. Some events that have been very
successful are:
Litter
BLASTERS (Broadway Lake Area Street Trash
Elimination Round-Up): Through the Anderson
Keep America Beautiful organization, the FBL
community has adopted Muldrow and Allen Parks and
the lake itself. It also maintains litter pick-up
on over 12 miles of roadway around the lake using
work gloves, trash bags, grabbers and safety vests
provided by Keep America Beautiful.
Annual Log-Out:
Each spring, volunteers take to the water to
remove large debris and trash from the lake. This
year, 2007, 14 large trees were towed to the boat
landing and pulled up on land. Piles of
firewood-sized logs were also removed from the
lake. Park Police Chief Strewing coordinates the
final removal of all this wood from McFall's
Landing and the lake is ready to enjoy for another
year. Everyone's boat props should be very
grateful for these efforts! |
